Finding Nemo

Duke: Well, partner, Rex and I have saddled up to tackle the American Film Institute's top 10 animated movies. First up on our list is number 10, Finding Nemo. Now, I ain't too keen on animated flicks, but here we go.

Rex: "The journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step." Finding Nemo is a beautiful story about the lengths a father will go to find his lost son. Released in 2003 by Pixar Animation Studios, this film quickly became a beloved classic. It follows Marlin, a clownfish, as he searches the vast ocean for his son, Nemo, who was captured by a diver.

Duke: Yeah, yeah, I know the drill. A fish gets lost, and his daddy fish swims all over creation to find him. It’s like an underwater cowboy tale without the horses. I’ll admit, the animation is impressive. The ocean looks real enough to make you want to jump in.

Rex: "Every cloud has a silver lining." The animation truly set a new standard for the industry. Pixar's attention to detail brought the underwater world to life in a way never seen before. The vibrant coral reefs, the bustling schools of fish, and the menacing deep-sea creatures were all meticulously crafted. And let's not forget the touching story. Marlin's journey is filled with memorable characters like Dory, a forgetful blue tang, and Crush, a laid-back sea turtle.

Duke: That Dory character? She’s a real piece of work. Can’t remember a thing but somehow manages to be the heart of the whole story. It’s all sappy and sentimental, but I suppose that’s what folks like about it. The film did alright at the box office too, pulling in a heap of cash and winning an Oscar for Best Animated Feature.

Rex: "Actions speak louder than words." The film's success is a testament to its powerful storytelling and innovative animation. It wasn't just a hit with audiences; it also garnered critical acclaim. The voice acting, particularly Ellen DeGeneres as Dory, brought a unique charm to the characters. Finding Nemo also marked a significant point in Pixar's history, solidifying its reputation as a leader in animated films.

Duke: Alright, I’ll give it that. It’s got heart, it’s got adventure, and it sure is pretty to look at. But don’t expect me to start liking all these animated flicks just because of one good one. Finding Nemo is a decent watch, especially if you’ve got grandkids to entertain. As for me, I’ll stick to my Westerns and leave the underwater adventures to the young’uns.

Rex: "To each his own," Duke. Finding Nemo is a timeless tale that resonates with audiences of all ages. Its themes of perseverance, family, and friendship make it a standout in the world of animation. Whether you're young or old, it's a film that reminds us of the importance of never giving up and always believing in the impossible.

Duke: Well, folks, there you have it. If you’re looking for a fishy adventure with a lot of heart, give Finding Nemo a watch. But don’t say I didn’t warn you about the sappiness.

Rex: Until next time, folks, keep your hats on and your remotes ready! See you at the movies!
